IBO is a company based in Morges, with offices in Zurich and Schaan (Liechtenstein). Since 2005, the company has been offering unique platforms, using real data, with which one’s portfolios can be effectively compared and monitored.
IBO has chosen to collaborate with Net4All since 2017, with a direct migration under the protection of Net4All highly secure cloud solution, CerberHost. Indeed, their regular contact with the banking sector required a highly secure environment so as to gain and keep the trust of their partners and customers.
Florian Marguier agreed to answer our questions: he joined IBO in 2015 as head of the IT department to manage the company’s various projects. Previously, Florian worked for 10 years on various projects related to the development of Internet sites and applications, as a developer and production manager
To begin, could you introduce yourself, as well as IBO’s, activities?
IBO set up an asset management supervision service in 2005. “Performance Watcher” is the tool put in place to keep that promise. It is a simple platform where private and professional investors share anonymous information about their portfolios to assess and monitor performance and risk on a daily basis. Thus, it works on participatory logic and peer comparison.
My position as IT manager, for example, covers the development and operational sustainability of the system. These are exciting tasks in a world of exponential growth!
Why did you choose to collaborate with Net4All?
Last April (2017), we’ve started looking for a new hosting provider: IBO shareholders and I decided to short-list 4-5 providers in the region.
The geographical proximity of Net4All, their thoroughness, then the meeting with Anthony Gérard (CEO Net4All, editor’s note), with whom we had a very good feeling, are the main elements that convinced us. Net4All’s references in the banking field also gave us the guarantee that their teams already had experience in this market (particularly in terms of banking certifications and documentation).
What was the biggest challenge to overcome?
The first challenge was the speed at which the migration had to take place, as our system was getting slower and slower with our previous provider.
We then had to anticipate each step of the migration as best as possible and manage the transition with the banks, in order to reduce the impact on their daily activities to the strict minimum. We had to juggle skillfully between our old and new servers.
Finally, when the migration ended, we had a transitional period of 3 months which required the implementation of workaround solutions, but this was well planned and anticipated. The upstream installation work with our technical referent at Net4All (Kevin, Net4ll Linux and Infrastructures Manager, editor’s note) as well as all the tests and settings done in advance avoided us to have any unpleasant surprise during this migration, so everything went well.
What is your assessment compared to your initial objectives?
The results are very positive since the first objective was to have more efficient servers in order to improve speed. In addition, we were able to update our application and scripts to optimize processing times.
The second goal was to have more reactive teams and to optimize incident management: this mission is accomplished with Net4All!
When a bank sends us a request, our technical contacts at Net4All immediately contact them with an established procedure that saves a lot of time. This was not the case with our previous provider. Here, once the incident ticket has been created, the person in charge knows exactly the procedure and the actions to be taken. Professionalism and trust are the hallmarks of our banking clients!
Eventually, Net4All’s security skills have also been an asset and were reassuring for our customers.
